InTheBagg return to the action with their second record and the Slipmat kings of California have some more tricks up their sleeve. There’s a classy and headzy vibe about this label, they’re doing it for the right reasons and are ready to showcase their sound once again for the next edition. A quartet of artists and close allies appear in this one for ITBVA002, and they’ve definitely supplied the magic with trax that respire varying moods and dancefloor impact.

Ldn hotshot J. Onstott lead’s the charge on A1. Picking up the phone to feature again with the Cally crew after making an appearance on 001. His previous injection, ‘Antennae’ captured the imagination and painted a picturesque landscape, but hit the spot with a fully charged low-swung bass. This time, ‘Holualoa’ opens with a similar vibe but goes one further on the mellow-meter. Warm, rising pads set the scene as you’re instantly transported to a more tranquil place in your mind. The elusive drums and breaks are smooth and delicate, flickering away like embers in an early morning fire on the mountains. A totally serene introduction to the EP.

Up next is ‘Casper, My Daughter’s Husband’ on A2 from the mysterious ‘╤─’. Who escorts us down a vortex of mystery and the unknown. Unlike it’s predecessor, the mood shifts into a more playful vibe and keeps us guessing. Subtle, marching drums power the beat and give it wings. Squelchy tones and shards of dazzling synth stabs echo a psychedelic atmosphere; as the dark, analogue bass pumps energy into the mix to keep things moving.

Onto the flip and we delve Into more familiar territories for the house headz with fellow Ldn man ‘Wink’ rocking the B-side with some uplifting summer magic. ‘Click’ (B1) exudes that classic house sound and takes the EP into the peak-time moments. The warm and bouncy bass swarms the beat but it’s the gleaming array of synth notes that really do the talking as they flicker away in the top-end to induce the positive vibrations.

Last, but definitely not least. Our premiere is for the maxed-out ‘Filter Analyis’ on B2, the eerie weapon that occupies the last space of the EP. Produced by Cally man, Louiv, his contribution to the record is a dark and taunting hip-shaker. Kicking into gear 55 seconds in, the groove takes over and the ghoulish vibe breathes a misty-aired flavour into the mix. Prime time material for the moody embers of the night and a scintillating climax to end the EP.
