Frost Plates return to the action with their first release of 2021, and second vinyl-only outing. They recruit some new faces, and intertwine a fusing of big cats from the Argentine and German minimal house scene: including Trentz (Avotre), AWSI (Blind Vision), Martin Bellomo (Sanity), Phil2 (Baile Musik) and Reyam (Deeperfect). All six have vast amounts of experience under their belts, and have made frequent appearances on European power-house labels as well as inside their own territories. Sporting some killer artwork and switch-up in design, the ‘Resilient EP’ is arguably the strongest piece of work from the label since their inception back in 2016. FROSTL001 contains three original mixes from each Argentine artist, and one more, with a timely collaboration between Germans Phil2 and Reyam . Strap yourselves in for this one, they’ve got some heavy artillery and grooves that are going to blow your mind.

Trentz kicks things off on A1 with our main feature, ‘3162Km’. A merky, warehouse stomper that is full of attitude. Strong tech house beats and a grungy bassline dominate; but are clinically merged with a splash of mysterious sounds in the backdrop, to pack out the atmosphere. Phil2 and Reyam get funky on A2 with ‘Shadowboxin’. A devious, rhythmic cut with a multitude of glitchy textures and razor-sharp hats. Dance-floor igniting and opts as a strong selection to switch up the vibes.

On the flip, Martin Bellomo tone’s it down with ‘Temujin (B1). A minimal chugger that keep’s the energy flowing as the killer bass melody locks you into the groove instantly. Martin cuts the track expertly with some scattered percussion, and creates a joyous roller-coaster of rhythm. Ending the EP is handed to AWSI, who closes with his mindblowing creation, ‘Way To Say Goodbye’ (B2). Chiming synths and the ghostly, syncopated synth-line open for an introspective intro. Building the beats for a big finish as AWSI peppers some pumping, acidic frequencies to inject sincerity into the bassline. A mysterious masterpiece and perfect end-of-set track.
