The Casa Voyager train rolls into the station for the third edition of it’s ‘Sports’ series. The label is a driving force in the underground electronic scene. Fused with Moroccan roots and shades of international inspiration with founders Deriss Bennis, Youssef Benjelloun and Jonas Bengio all experiencing stints based in various European hotspots. The label pushes all boundaries of techno, break-beat and electro and Vol.3 presents a splash of sounds from some label favourites: inlcuding Kosh, OCB, Viewtiful Joe, Malik, Jalil and Bergsonist. There’s a wicked mix of peak-time heavy-hitters and subtle melodic moments in this EP and it’s a certified insta-cop in our books.

The A1 is fast out of the blocks and comes from label comrades OCB and Malik, who team up to create a fierce and tainted 135+ pouncer. Gritting it’s teeth in the intro, the bass lurks like a panther and quickly progresses into a menacing acidic synth that exudes throughout the bassline. Razer-sharp hats give it a give it high-octane dance-floor energy and mysterious noises seep into the mix to heighten the hysteria. The A2 is a cunning and twisted mind-trip from Bergsonist that sounds like the inside of the Hadron collider. Stripped to it’s bare bones but exhibiting a feral presence, it’s techno like you’ve never heard before as the robust kick collides with a vortex of interjecting atom-esque synths.

The B1 awakens into more melodic territories with Jalil providing a downtempo chapter for the EP. Clean breakbeat drums set the pace and mirrored-shades of synths shine through the mix like the sun and blend beautifully with the warm descending bass. Onto B2 and Viewtiful Joe turns it up a notch with a devious foot-work bomb. It’s The Mask on acid. The bass is domineering, fluid and jammed with groove as it shifts through it’s territory with the static hats and marching beats. It’s a mind-blowing climax to the EP that will command d-floor activation.

The EP closer on B2 comes from Kosh and he’s in the mood for summer. It’s called ‘It’s Always Sunny In Casa’ and is packed with good-feeling tendencies. Most notably, the sultry selection of gleaming pads and the 80’s style synth-lines, just wait for the Todd-Terje esque riff that protrudes into the action in the second-half. Fully baked good music that completes the EP in evocative style.
