Terrazzo is the baby of two of the most on-sight labels in the rising proggy scene. Duality Trax and Gestalt collide once again for their third disc as a sub-print and call upon some new recruits and trusted affiliates for their next instalment of planetary weapons. Including ‘Cromie’, who produced the second EP for DUALITY2 and returns with a shape-shifting beauty for the A1 of this brand new Various. TERRAZZOO3 is titled the ‘Super Soakers Delight’: and features tracks from other rising talents Aldonna, Ahmet Mecnun and Mtty. All four tracks of this weighty VA are going to leave you drenched with a quenched thirst for more, and can be fully utilised as dance-floor tools for a diversity of sonic moods.
Flying the flag for Belfast, Holly Lester has been taking her Duality Trax imprint on a steady rise, but has recently ignited the engines with three swift and quality EP’s from rising talents Tifra, Abdul Raeva and Aiden Francis. The reaction for the recent EP’s tells the story of the popularity of this label; particularly for Aiden’s most recent ‘Plastic Fantasy’ EP, with the fully infectious A1 doing a lot of damage and receiving international support from the big players in the prog scene. The other half of the Terrazzo fold is Steffan Todorović, head-honcho of Estonian super-label Gestalt Records. This imprint needs no introduction and has fully taken control of the eclectic side of cosmic techno with super-charged recent EP’s from Biodive, Cybernet and another killer EP from the massively in-form Aiden Francis.
The A1 from Cromie ‘All In The Mind’ is a tantalising spiritual awakening. Cascading bass, a platitude of celestial tones and ethereal melodies truly blast this one into orbit, it’s the perfect roller to close out a set when hands are in the air and the feeling is mutual euphoria amongst the ravers. A similar end-sight appears to be the intention of Aldonna’s subtle creeper ‘Let The Serpants Dance’ (A2). A weird and wonderful war-cry weapon of tribalistic energy and sophisticated funk, making wicked use of some bongo’s and other naturalistic sounds to really entice a rogue and burning atmosphere.
Ahmet Mecnun has an enchanting and infectious weapon oven-ready pon’ the flip. ‘Highly Corrosive’ seriously hits the spot, no-nonsense uplifting energy right from the off and sporting a serious groove in it’s killer bassline that promises to get the punters fully juiced up. Last up is Mtty with one final cosmic burner with his searing summer bomb ‘Sheosih’ (B2). Maximum zest and spacey animation has been fully achieved by now with this package and the last chapter of the EP doesn’t disappoint with another ecstacy fuelled bassline. Beautifully constructed and sounding so fresh on the ears with it’s warm bass thats perfectly syncopated to a plethora of astral synth rockets. Pure, peak-time groovy euphoria in full flow to box-off the EP in style.
