French label Danz La Zone reach their tenth milestone of sonic output. For the big X, they’re armed with a heavy-duty EP from Germain CLS. DLZ010 is comprised of a quartet of high-magnitude tracks from the rising Parisian DJ, and reinforced with radiant remixes from Bliss Inc. and Gneiss. Similar to our latest premiere from GODDEZZ, Danz La Zone is another daring label where nothing is off-limits regarding style. Demonstrating a genre-defying identity – but if you had to be specific – they’re blurring all the realms of Techno, Trance, and Prog. The ‘ZEIT’ EP has been in the creative worx for over a year, and deftly illustrates GCLS’s adroit skillset when it comes to crafting high-energy, trance-inducing weaponry.

‘Zeit’ is first out of the blocks, a fluid and direct bolt of high-octane, progressive nectar. GCLS conjures a whirlwind of driving-force bass, navigating into sonic trajectory courtesy of the high-octane drums and ecstasy-inducing 90’s rave stabs. ‘BB7’ is a dark and meticulous cut, climbing down from the euphoric high of its predecessor to shift into more serious territory. Fuelling this deft weapon is a percussive onslaught of finely cut breaks and robust snares, underpinned by a growling juggernaut bass that has the perfect combination of potency and groove, it promises to smash any sound system.

‘Another Cab’ initially engages as a mid-set crawler, dark and composed but progressing with each beat. Tension begins to multiply as the uncompromising combo of dark bass and dotted percs evolve alongside a sequence of tainted synths and acid-lines, injecting an enchanted element into the matter and enhancing the enrapturing vibe. Last up from the original mixes is ‘Ciccio’, a track that fully captures the essence of the night and the spirit-heightening experience of trance music. Groove is delivered in complete abundance courtesy of its fluctuating bass and seductive synth lines. It’s the kind of track any DJ would reach for to close off proceedings, leaving the dance floor in a state of trancey and transcendence.

Gneiss’s remix of ‘Ciccio’ kidnaps the spirited closing energy of the original, and drags it straight back down into a wormhole of trippy exuberance. The infected bassline is dark and slick, rotating and disjointed as shards of tainted bleeps emerge to dance around the beat, offering a glimmer of light only to be consumed by dark matter once again. Bliss Inc. completes the EP by taking on ‘Zeit’ and conjures up another force of peak-time disturbance. Both original and remix are firmly warehouse stompers, but Bliss injects a more menacing aggravation with its intentions by utilising more rigorous drum-play and cutting the atmosphere with razor-sharp open hats.
