Neptune Discs call upon a familiar face for their final EP of 2025, with Belgrade man and prog virtuoso Cosmic G providing the weapons for the last dance. It’s been a wicked year for the Edinburgh label, fully establishing themselves as a serious imprint and a force to be reckoned with in the prog-infused techno sectors. Putting out killer EP’s from the likes of Body Clinic and Aiden Francis, and also branching out into deeper elements with the birth of their new sub-print ‘Jupiter’s Depth’, debuting with a stunning EP from house maestro Harrison BDP. Cosmic G’s ‘Intergalactic Truster’ EP combines the full force of the label and artists intentions, a galaxy busting vinyl 5-tracker that combines hyper-galactic basslines with melting atmospheres and celestial synth-lines – Inc. a meteoric remix from Tifra and supersonic collab with Estray.
A1 ‘Intergalactic Truster’ kicks off the EP with some formidable, no-nonsense prog-tech. A club purrer, built for dark rooms and big systems with spiritual minds all inter-locked on the dance-floor. It slides into the action smoothly but with the bit between it’s teeth, as dark and direct bass and squelchy acid sequencers take control of the action, fortified by deftly technical drums that achieve a perfect blend of minimalism and full potency. A wicked DJ tool for building tension and dancefloor movement in the early peak-time embers. Prog oppo Tifra takes the reigns of ‘intergalactic Truster’ on remix duties and sends it into the outer dimensions (A2). Operating with similar direct, bass-infused intentions, Tifra applies some cosmic dust into the atmosphere, allowing the bassline to simmer in a spacey chamber of lushly intertwined synth-lines and night-sky padwork.
The A-side teased all that is to come next as we’re now firmly exerted into peak-time territory with K.O. (B1) delivering a fatal blow for the entry into the flip. Cosmic G conjures a pouncing and daring psy-trance hammer – blending a cascading bassline with twisted dark grooves, tainted synths and devilish acid-lines all bouncing off in this hydro-collider of mystical sounds. It doesn’t get much heavier than this for thrill-seekers that feel at home in high-energy, sweaty dance-floors.
Our premiere for the EP is the ascending collab between the minds of CG and Estray, ‘Bounty Hunter’ (B2), a beautifully crafted prog weapon that floats like a butterfly but stings like a bee, fully locked into a heightened frenzy of peak-time euphoria. It takes flight with a stunningly swirling bassline that keeps it simple but achieves maximum groove as it fluctuates and dives between the lines, with some glitchy vox echoing like they’re getting absorbed into the whirlwind of sonic groove. In the second half, some sublimely enchanting synths reverberate into the mix to elevate the vibe into the higher echelons before disappearing into the night.
Last up is ‘The Enchanted Realm’ (B3), a moody groover that operates a different flavour to it’s previous counter-parts. It feels like the burning embers of the night where all energy has been relinquished on the dance-floor but the spirits are still high for the last act. CG whisks dark and eerie atmospheres with teetering, revolving synths as the Latin vox sprays a searing heat in the D-floor lock-step. The extended breakdown allows the punters to fully catch their breath and take it all in, as 303 acid-lines drench the atmosphere and make themselves known before joining forces with the translucent basslines final act.
