The latest label to spawn out of MCR is “Cosmoda” and we’re premiering a badboi cut from it’s owner and revitalised artist, Kalcagni. An experienced DJ and producer who has operated under numerous alias’s but is now all set for a fresh vision and venture into the murky and mechanical gallows of breaks & electro. CMB001 produces a catharsis of gritty hitters. Fuelled by infected basslines, robotic synthetics and emotive atmosphere design. It’s a full frontal first-insight into what we can expect from this exciting new-comer..

‘Lost In The System’ (A1) operates an incursion of viperous modular stabs that spit venom in every direction. They’re aggressive and have that electrifying feeling as if they’re bursting with voltaic chemicals. Kalcagni goes 10-tonne heavy on the percussion, with purging kicks and snares, compromised by darting hats that jolt in parallel to alleviate the basslines wonky groove. A2 goes sick on the funk and switches up devilishly from the former. ‘Multislacking’ is robust, much like the A1 but possesses a nastier groove that taints and squelches right through the veins. Kalcagni heightens the intensity of the initial section of the bassline with shades of illuminous pads but pulls the plug on them mid-way to allow for the bassline to max-out and create a metallic dance-floor spectacle of shape-shifting aliens.

The flip enforces a change of mood to the reverse with ‘Culture Vulture’ (B1) being utilised as a closer and final 303 acid work-out. The atmosphere feels cold as evoking pads emit an emotional buzz for the punters have a moment of reflection, but fizzing orbs of acid ensure that they pump energy into the mix to sustain it’s sweat-inducing pulse. ‘After The Fact’ (B2) picks back up for one last flex and undeniably has the bit between it’s teeth. Kalcagni has perfected that gnarling acid groove and he deploys a assault of descending electro bolts to richochet off each-other inside the bassline like a hydron collider of funk.
