01 – Wigs – I Know [GDZ035]

London label GODDEZZ are the definition of a sonic pallet, an imprint that’s sole intention is to elevate and expand the mind via the outlets of multi-genre colours, all under the ravey umbrella. Jungle, ambient, electro, breaks – you name it – you can fully expect to hear it on this spacious and exciting label. The 35th EP comes from fellow Londoner, Wigs. He’s not been on the scene for long, but you can already tell by the power and connectivity of his sound that this lad is going places fast. GDZ035 contains a trance rocket from the rising talent called ‘I Know’ and is accompanied by remixes from Dutch outfit Match Box and Stone.

‘I Know‘ from Wigs is a max-adrenaline proggy anthem, bursting with pulsing energy and infectious melodies. Wigs propels this trancey weapon with alluring synth-lines, perfectly under-pinned and in parallel with the soaring bass and lush pads. Definitively an end-of-set weapon, peak time is the only territory for this one. It’s sure to explode any dance floor into heightened ecstasy upon impact.

Stone’s remix of I Know strips back the beats to create a Balearic interpretation that exudes transcending bliss and total relaxation. Crisp, down-tempo drums set the pace for this meditative excursion – this mix is not for the clubs – but it does provide the perfect speaker remedy amidst a paradisal backdrop. Stones uses the acid-synths to great effect as they fizzle and flicker like burning embers, whilst the pads and vocals breathe an enchanting glow into the atmosphere.

Dutch duo – Match Box complete the EP with their high-octane remix of I Know, shifting the energy levels into complete hyper-space for the final flurry. MB surges the BPM, and injects dynamism and propulsion into to mix courtesy of some ultra-refined skippy drums to give the remix its wings. The talking point though is that ultra slick bass-organ synth combo, a total crowd-pleaser and the perfect way to inject a rapturous 90’s nostalgia into the midst.
