PREMIERE: Kas – Jupiter (Olly Vanc Remix)

London based newcomer Kas touches down on his own label with two intergalactic cuts and recruits the craft of fellow LDN compadre’ Olly Vanc on remix duties. Kas is the latest talent to breathe life into the UK’s thriving deeper scene and has signed records to minimal outlets Unk Planet, Gliese and Vanc’s Ranura imprint. Olly himself continues to impress with his slick afterhours sound and has released with Leeds heads Syntaxx and rising Dutch label, Airtime. Rubbing shoulders with the likes of suki, Somersault, Cosenza and Close to Custom.

They join forces on the ‘Jupiter EP’ and it’s a real statement of intent from Kas, coming through with a solid production and portraying a diverse skill-range to take on two differing styles. The clue is in the name of the original mix, ‘Jupiter’, a close to 9 minute space-sequence of mesmeric vibrations. Dreamy chords and synths are fused with delicate percussion and a plethora of subtle frequencies floating through the tracks spacey pallet. The Vox mix of Jupiter goes one deeper and occupies a rominimal flavour with dexterous effects that flicker between the lines and distorted vocal chops. Olly Vanc takes on Jupiter and locks you straight into the groove with a clear-cut dance-floor focus. Expertly layering gushes of rhythm, clinically swung drums and a piercing bassline; whilst maintaining the evoking, interstellar atmosphere of the original.
