Psionic is the formation of minds between Anthea, Oshana and Velasco. Combining their unparalleled experience and shared vision of the underground, the label intends to fuse their typically quirky house style with tracks that provide heightened experiences, transcending qualities and spiritual awakening. 006 recruits the acid infused bleeps of Uruguayan talent Marcos Coya to great effect and it’s by far his most definitive EP to date. Four gritty hammers make up the fabric of the ‘Comportamientos Nocturnos’ EP, twists and turns await around every corner and it’s a perfect showcase of his versatility, relentless style and ear for the nocturnal hours.
A1 ‘Relaxx your Soul’ snaps straight out of the blocks with a venomous bite. A twisted, peak-time weapon that creates a hectic cyclone of infused bass and tainted grooves, jolting like a poisonous dart straight into your blood-stream. The message is to relax, but this shoes-off bomb will have the dancefloor stepping it up and doing anything but relax with these super sneaky drums commanding total energy.
The A2 transforms the vibe into a progressive nature but still installs a mechanical edge into the second injection of the EP. ‘Doggy Style’ is a pressure-cooker of robust sounds and dark matter, pulsing an cutting through the air as gliding pads amplify the atmosphere into dizzy heights . It builds tension with an alien swagga and threatens to boil over as warped synths and bubbling acid-lines combust in the centre to dance about your cranium without warning. Perfect for tight spaces and sweaty ceilings.
B1 ‘Real Shit’ exhibits another tuff exterior and curtails back into groovy territory with this headz-down juggernaut. The techiest cut of the package initiates it’s charge with a tentative approach but gathers momentum as it progresses, swamped once again in a plume of dark haze and billowing out acidic frequencies from every angle.
The end quarter of the EP winds down the vibe with a solid closer, almost like it was designed specifically to be a set-ender. The vibe feels like a dystopian aftermath, unable to see past your hands as the smoke tries to disperse from the room. ‘Evil Gear’ produces a final onslaught of chugging synth-lines, dotting about the mix aimlessly as the murky bass and marching drums keep the burning embers alive until the last beat.
