PREMIERE: A1 – Mr. Fixie – Track & Trace [Right Angle]
Contact: detectionaudio@gmail.com
2021 casts a strong leap for the Right Angle Records crew. Announcing their first vinyl release as a label and doing it in style. Coming through with two dancefloor orientated cuts from label boss Mr. Fixie and remixes from house legend Silverlining, plus younger prodigy; Jeigo. Key selections that pay homage to their influences of the classic sound whilst orchestrating a vision for the future. Right Angle tested the water last year with a trio of heavy free downloads from Fixie himself. Celebrating their new era and transition from London based party starters and into label territories. Now is the time to get serious and for the brand to firmly come of age.
The EP opens up with A1 ‘Track and Trace’ and Mr. Fixie ain’t messing about with this pulsing house cut. A jolt of underground attitude with it’s finely tuned organ bassline and mechanical low-end effects. Things get stompy on A2 with the maestro, Silverlining applying an edge to ‘The Leyton House Track’. Another dance-floor shifter that ooze’s groove and possesses a thunderous rhythm with some 90’s flavour in the vocal stabs.
Onto the B-side and the record enters an alternate dimension to it’s house chamber opening. A breakzy venture and clear intention of Mr. Fixie to flex his creativity. ‘Purple Gloves’ builds initially with an atmospheric introduction but hits hard when it matters and we are treated to a killer, breakbeat warper that’s fuelled by strong analogue frequencies. There is room for one more and it’s a beauty remix from Jeigo. Who incorporates all of his worldwide influences to splash a sonic, breakbeat backdrop to ‘Switcheroo’ on B2. Spacey sytnths flicker between the lines around the stunningly ethereal atmosphere. Jeigo expertly creates a plethora of vocal tones that sound like a choir of pads to truly intensify the nostalgic feeling.
Release date: 12.03.21
