PREMIERE: A1 – Jack Michael & Robert James – Pleasure Beach [Opia]

OPIA009 fuses in the form of a collaboration between Orbital London breakster Jack Michael and Body Movement boss, Robert James. It’s the second outing for the LDN pairing after locking horns to create ‘B2A’ on James’s BM imprint earlier this year. They join forces once again and enter orbit on OPIA with two signature ravey cuts. Michelle returns to OPIA to take on ‘Pleasure Beach’ and fellow Uruguayan Fede Lijtmaer completes the EP with a remix of B-side ‘Great British Break Off’.

A1 ‘Pleasure Beach’ is a 130 bpm anthem designed to create maximum impact. The punchy organ stabs steal the show on this dancefloor stomper. Accompanied by a roaring groove and plucky 80’s style synths that will have you throwing shapes like Marty in the Delirium. Michelle takes things down a notch and gets deep, down and defected with her housey ‘Pepsi Max’ remix. Selecting sharp, radiating hats, expertly programmed drums and adding a host of mysterious sounds with the organ notes dashing about in between the mix. Jack and Robert crank up the gears on the flip with ‘Great British Break off’. A definitive, ravey encounter that breathes life into the underground with slick breaks, laser blade synth stabs and a killer acid line. Fede Lijtmaer completes the EP with his interpretation of GBBO. Escorting us down into a spiralling, trippy wormhole of distorted melodies; glitchy drums and boggy, low end frequencies.
