It’s been an anticipated wait for the next Velvet record after a silky first instalment from Triptil, setting the tone in classy effect with his Omnichord EP . A trippy slice of hazy house music from the Romanian man and backed up by remixes from White Isle label owners JNJS and UK maestro Silverlining. 002 is now here and taking matters up a notch with a heightened peak-time effect courtesy of Pryma man Montei. The ‘Conrado EP’ delivers two slick scorchers for 002 from the Argentinian DJ with varying moods. Pumped with a double remix injection once again, this time from JNJS and another from the highly respected virtuoso, iO (Mulen).
Montei’s discography is mostly dominated by his Pryma baby. An imprint that continuously marches in firm ascendancy with Montei’s dedicated commitment to his craft and taste for creating mind-bending grooves. He’s a producer who knows exactly how to twist the vibe at any moment and heighten the senses in the deliverance of his tuff sound. Dark and trippy, dubby yet mystical and designed to send dance-floors into an energetic coherence. Check out his Justin Case EP for a full rendition of his sleazy guile.
‘Conrado’ (A1) exherts as a sleek mid-set groover, unusually tribalistic compared to other works from Montei and opting to set itself upon a lusher backdrop. The cruising bass generates a warm exuberance to the vibe as conga-esque percussion plays out a tropical battle cry. iO (Mulen) then take’s over for remix duties (A2) with an energy-patterned flight, as his peak-time mix of Conrado ups the BPM notches and soars into the air with infectious intensity. His impeccably detailed drum-play always creates the most dexterous grooves, and paired with some tantalising synth-lines gets all of the juices flowing for this end-set weapon. Plenty of DJ’s will be drawing this one out of their arsenal this summer.
The melting response continues on the flip with Montei creating another plush weapon for the opening act of the flip. ‘Rayos’ is the definition of a terrace heater, flowing elegantly like an Ibiza sea breeze with it’s irresistibly deep bass groove and lush synths-lines . The setting for this one is pure peak-time in it’s very essence, but it allows a nice amount of time to build the vibe towards it’s momentous climax as the spiritual senses hit the ultimate apex upon the final bassline.
Label owners JNJS complete the package with their own interpretation of ‘Rayos’, spraying it with a techier flex and maxing out the animation. The dynamic duo make solid use of the 90’s rave stabs and livewire synths and weave them inside out of their own juicy bassline. It’s another searing addition to the EP and provides the icing on the cake of this true quartet of white isle bombs.
