Mario Liberti’s Deep In Dis vision has provided the sonic platform for the formidable Parisian DJ to invite like-minded creatives into his fold. The label encourages it’s artists to express themselves fully with genre-bending sounds, no barriers and total freedom to impact dance-floors with altering impacts. Physical EP’s are a rare commodity with the label, but when they arrive they always slap. As seen with the last one, a killer split-EP from rising talents Eric OS and Lewis. A1 ‘Eden’ from the EP has become a modern-age timeless anthem, and is still doing the rounds in sets around the world. For us, it’s is one of the sickest tracks of the last few years.
Fast-forward and D-I-D return with their first VA of their physical series and welcome five bubbling artists to the fold to make their debut on the label. 004 produces a killer exertion of different sounds: alligning deep, progressive grooves across dexterous arrays of house, electro and breaks with endless amounts of energy. Strap yourselves in for this heavy-weight slice of underground bleepz.
PILY unravels the VA with a slick, minimalistic sniper and showcases once again why many people are starting to become fully accustomed with her potent sound. Her ‘Orca EP’ on Anthea and Velasco’s ‘PILLZ imprint landed at the back end of 2023 and has been massively well received, landing in the bags of some heavy-weight DJ support. ‘Bailo En Circuito’, translated to ‘Circuit Dance’ creates just that. A warping perimeter of low-end onslaught that’s both stripped-back, but pumping and pulsing with formidable energy.
Experienced producer Marcos Coya takes control of the next import and doesn’t disappoint with his twisted roof-tearer, ‘Buahh Trance’. A behemoth of underground dark substance, this is tech-house in it’s purest, hypnotic form. The type of 3AM vibe that you can get lost in a dark mazy haze; as the bass and deft beats transport your mind, body and soul into a trippy chamber.
Something totally different awaits the B-side of the record. Prince De Takicardie is a producer known for his eclectic fusing of raw acidic sounds with colouful melodies, and he treats us to another slice of his seductive power with ‘Badalona’s House (First Mix)’. A defected, Balearic style house track that’s oozing in tropical flavour. This stompy, whistling weapon will be making itself very much at home in the sleazy after-party settings this summer if you can handle it.
Ibiza boys JNJS are no strangers to crafting infectious, white-isle style techy tracks, but for their feature in DIS VA they opt to divert down a dis-jointed mazy slope with ‘X-Money’. A broken-beat stomper, full of presence and attitude, they fuse wonky synth-play with a strutting bass, snappy snares and tuff-talking vocals. The perfect mid-set steppa to spice up the energy.
Dub Dealers man Eren Arif returns to the action with a sledge-hammer for the last cut of the VA. Also known more for his dubby style, ‘High Volume’ adds another breakzy’ sucker-punch into the fold. Patterned upon a dark landscape, this street-wise stompa swings for the jugular with its daring bass, finely sliced break-beat drums and endearing synths. Only to be played at the highest of decibels
