Leeds headz, Syntaxx announce their debut vinyl-only release, and they’ve got some wicked tricks up their sleeve. Long-time party-starterz in the northern-hem, the brand has become a popular outlet for punters to explore the minimal sound. Growing predominately as a label for upcoming talent; and throwing a series of intimate parties in the big city, with a discrete focus on pushing the sounds of their trusted selectors. One of those residents, Mehlor, has been a familiar face since their inception and continues to level-up each year. Consistantly landing on in-form labels and is easilly one of the most exciting and hotly tipped prospects in the underground UK scene. He joins forces with some impelling artists for Syntaxx’s first wax outing: including AWSI, Parsec and Nate S.U. A weighty four track VA that encapsulates a fresh direction in sound for the label, and is packed with tripped-out grooves and cutting riddimz.

First up on A1 is ‘Wurk’ from Mehlor, with a darting 130 rumbler. Switching it up with some harder energy compared to his well known minimal heaters. Tricky percussion and jolting synth-lines open up the track before we’re locked into the bouncy bassline. Fizzy effects and a devious cyclone of whistling tones give the b-line wings in the top-end and maximise the funk. AWSI is up next with ‘SPD’. A gnarly, high-tempo warper that attacks with a menacing presence. The viperous bass creates a predatory instinct, but AWSI injects mystery into the second half with some haunting pads and hypnotic vocals stabs.

Onto the flip, Parsec joins the action with his high-octane bouncer, ‘Error’ (B1). More commonly known for his minimal productions, he’s emerged from the lock-down with a darker sound that’s made for the clubs. ‘Error’ is arguably his hardest track yet, and it’s definitely gunna cause damage. Transporting us into a trippy worm-hole of groove, as his piercing space vibes ignite the bassline and infuse some heavy-weight energy for the nite time skankerz. Nate S.U whips up one last frenzy on B2 with ‘Trip’. A sneaky weapon, that’s gunna go off. The drums do the talking in the opening scene. Shifty, and smothered with some wicked hat-play to create a cunning 2-step. The groove on the bass is ridiculous and swarms the beat like a hive of wasps, with some trippy synths skipping betwixt the beats to intensify the trip.
